2 Day Urban Survival & Emergency Preparedness Course Overview

SSC’s signature Urban Survival & Emergency Preparedness course takes place over 2 days and 1 night at our field operations/tactical facility in Nova Scotia. By the end of this course, you will have an appreciation for the unique challenges faced, and forward planning required, for any type of emergency or disaster scenario in an urban or suburban setting. This course provides an excellent introduction to and good grounding in all the principles and skills necessary to prepare and survive in a town or city environment, including basic survival principles that can be applied anywhere. Covering emergency planning and preparation, shelter-in-place vs. evacuation, loss of utilities and municipal services, water supply and sanitation, food storage and acquisition, home defence, basic first aid and psychology of disaster. This course is designed for beginners who wish to learn from scratch, and those with some experience of urban emergency prep wishing to review and expand their skill set. This intensive course includes hands-on practical training in a variety of subjects, concentrating on ensuring the most important skills are developed. Graduates of this course should leave with a solid base of knowledge to draw upon and a practical template for forward preparation in case of emergency or disaster in an urban setting.
